I am very new to Avid MC 5. I have completed a minute project that I need to burn to a DVD. It took about 6 or 7 hours and the file is I tried exporting as an AVI it gave me a size limitation error. I also tried Quick Time Reference and the same thing. I bet I am doing a ton of stuff wrong so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Screenplay is very simple and straight forward system to use. I believe I had it mastered within about an hour. Avid is light years ahead of Screenplay but as I am finding our so is the learning curve. I wish there was someplace where I can get some hands on training. I must be doing something wrong. Then the question is should I be creating the file differently. Once again, thank you everyone for the assistance.
Sorry for the quick stream-of-conciousness here but I only have a couple minutes. Getting footage into your system via Avid and editing via Media Composer is the customary workflow for editing, but certainly getting it out as a DVD or whatever is part of the process too. The trouble is, there are ways to do so, and every single editor thinks their way is the most important and logical.
So what I’m about to recommend may not be the way you envisioned, but understand that it is the most flawless way to deliver DVDs out of Media Composer. Have Avid Media Composer v5. Don’t have it? Get it here. That’s it. Sure there were a ton of alternative methods, but why stray from the fully-supported and rigorously tested standard?
Same goes with Avid. If laying videos to tape or exporting stuff for YouTube is not your workflow and you actually want to author DVDs or BluRays instead, then you have to acquire the Avid tools necessary to do so.
